Type Locality and Naming
By the valley of Shurysay, south of the Gissar ridge, Tajikistan. M.N. Gramm, 1949 (177, p. 5).
Synonym: Shurysayskaya Suite, Шурысайская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Marine red-colored sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), clays, gypsums. Thickness up to 338 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Overlies the Upper Eocene with erosion
Upper contact
Overlain with erosion by the Gadzhak Fm
Regional extent
Tajik Depression and Southwest Gissar.
